The Now and Future of Refractory Materials in Different Industries

The rapid development of high temperature industries leads to the development of refractory materials. Refractory materials are widely used in iron and steel, nonferrous metals, petrochemical, building materials, machinery, electric power, light industry and other basic industries as well as aviation and aerospace ships and other military fields. Among them, the iron and steel industry is the largest consumer of refractories industry, accounting for about 70% of total consumption. 

Since entering new century, the refractory industry has maintained a sustained and stable development. In the future, refractory technologies will develop towards longevity, low consumption, energy saving, environmental protection, low-carbon, recycling and function. 

 

The iron and steel industry will develop towards overall control, eliminating the backward, mergers and acquisitions, technological innovation and layout optimization. Control new capacity, eliminate backward production capacity, strengthen technological innovation, develop new materials and regulate iron ore trade order. 

 

According to the demand of China's building materials industry for refractory materials and the development of the refractory industry in the past few years, we can predict, in the next few years, the demand growth rate of the building materials industry for refractory will slow down, but the demand will still maintain an upward trend. 

 

In the next few years, the chemical industry will remain above 7% growth. The industry will take on some different development characteristics. In the next few years, the total demand for refractories in the chemical industry will increase. The capacity of large oil refining equipment will be expanded and the process will be optimized, which will bring some development for the refractory industry.

 

The industrial structure of the non-ferrous metal industry will be further optimized; the development quality and efficiency will be improved; technological innovation capability will be significantly enhanced. Overall, the demand of the non-ferrous metal smelting industry for refractories accounts for about 3-5% of the total domestic demand for refractories. In the next few years, the demand for high-tech, high value-added refractory products will increase. The total demand for refractory materials will continue to maintain about 5%. The growth rate will not be too large.
