The fused zirconia corundum brick is a white solid formed by pure alumina powder and zircon sand containing zirconia of 65% and about 34% of silica in the electric melting furnace and then injected into the mold to be cooled. The structure consists of an eutectoid and a glass phase of corundum and zirconium, which are phased as eutectoids of the corundum phase and the zircon oblique phase, and the glass phase is filled between their crystals.
 
Corundum brick is a silicon-silicon refractory product with corundum as the main phase. Corundum brick has excellent high temperature mechanical properties, good corrosion resistance and wear resistance. The raw materials are natural hydrated aluminum oxides such as gibbsite, gibbsite, etc., and these hydrates are dehydrated by heating to obtain alumina (γ-Al2O3). It is then converted to corundum (α-Al2O3) by heating to 1450 °C. Natural corundum and natural pure boehmite have very little reserves in nature. Therefore, industrial alumina is used as a raw material for the production of corundum. The industrial alumina produced is mainly α-Al 2 O 3 . When the γ-Al2O3 is converted into α-Al2O3, the volume shrinkage is 13%. In order to make the α-Al2O3 grains develop well, the raw materials need to be treated at a higher temperature. After high temperature burning, the α-Al2O3 grains can grow 25 to 40 times.

The cold compressive strength is very large, greater than 350 MPa, but the tensile strength is only about 20 MPa. In the case of impact and uneven heating, when the tensile stress caused by the temperature difference is too large and the volume changes too fast, there is no pores to act as a buffer, and it is easy to burst.
